On Monday, Sept. 28, 2020 (Hua), 12 p.m. sharp, with the sun directly overhead — kau ka lā i ka lolo — students, teachers, families, friends, colleagues, and communities across Hawai‘i and the Pacific engaged in a 10-minute virtual blessing to affirm the strength and unity of our oceanic mana, and to invoke the spirit of inquiry and exploration of Moananuiākea, the Great Pacific — where profound human achievements have taken place for millennia. As breathtaking images unfold, words appear on screen so that participants of all ages and cultures may offer in unison Nā ‘Aumākua and Ho‘onani i Ka Makua Mau. With the closing prayer offered, this unique culturally-rich site went live around the world — from zenith to horizon!
