Kaʻiwakīloumoku Lāhui Rising Series
March 5, 2025
Featuring: Dr. David Keanu Sai
Host: Lāiana Kanoa-Wong
Lāhui Rising is an event series sponsored by the Kaʻiwakīloumoku Pacific Indigenous Institute to hear and honor different perspectives on matters of Hawaiian interest for the purposes of education.
Our 2024-25 Ea Speaker Series will focus on sovereignty and implications for the future of Hawaiʻi. We begin by featuring Dr. David Keanu Sai, a 1982 graduate of KS Kapālama. Given the current political climate, Dr. Sai discusses his newly-published article “Hawaiʻi’s Sovereignty and Survival in the Age of Empire” featured in the publication Unconquered States: Non-European Powers in the Imperial Age.
That night’s question and answer session with Dr. Sai can be viewed here.
