Elaine Nickie Ahuna Hines was born in Hilo, Hawaiʻi on August 28, 1927. Aunty Nickie has been playing Hawaiian music for more than 70 years. At the age of 9, she made her first professional debut with noted Hilo singer/composer, Albert Nahale-a. Since then she has played with some of Hawaiʻi’s top musicians including Aunty Genoa Keawe.
